Kia ora whanau
Its been a little while since the last update so I thought I'd put a blog up just to keep everyone in the loop up at the pa.
We finished the kihini base at the beginning of Feb, and that is all now ready for it's pour.
We're currently busy getting Papawhariki ready for it's concrete pour, because we need clear access to get under the roof of the courtyard. Once that is done we can then move on to setting up the wharekai foundation.
We've dug the holes for the new foundation pads for Papawhariki. We are going to replace all the columns because so many are rotten or bowed, it makes sense to do them all. That way they will all age at the same rate and look uniform.

We have decided to use a colour for Papawhariki to define the area and break it out from the surrounding pavement. The committee chose a colour that would wear well and look good as well as stay in keeping with it's surrounding.
We hope to have this poured within the next couple of weeks, we're just waiting for the colour as it had to be ordered in.

We are currently looking at the wharekai colour palette, and will have more information available about the choices made as they are made in coming updates.
Unfortunately, getting work done is not made easier when we have people help themselves to things that don't belong to them. Over the weekend someone decided they needed the site gates more than uncle Peter did, and used to bolt cutters to cut them free and steal them. This type of thing is just hoha, it means uncle has to take time out from getting work done on site to go find a way to secure the site, and costs the project money for more fencing. If you see our gates turn up on a farm somewhere, let us know!
In other news, we're really close to starting with the repaint for the wharepuni, and are getting the last costs in to start this work. The hope is to have it painted before the winter weather sets in.
In the meantime if anyone wishes to know anything more, you can always contact me or one of the others on the project team. I know that there are also whanau who have also shown an interest in the type of work I've done in the past which is awesome. I'm always willing to catch up for a chat and a cup of tea to talk about my past projects and answer any questions :)
