Kia ora whanau
Our working bees kicked off a couple of weekends ago with whanau turning up at the pa to start moving all our keepsakes from under Papawhariki. We're starting the process of clearing it out so that we can get the area ready for when our build to start. For now we've moved all the things we need to keep into the Kokiri and under cover.
The next step will be to lift our pavers and stack them safely on pallets ready for use in the landscaping around the pa.
We think with enough hands we should be able to get all our pavers lifted within a weekend or 2, so if you're keen to lend a hand this weekend we'll be up there to make a start.
So what's happening in the project?
Design
We're almost at the end of the design process whanau, not long now! Our drawings are being finalised and certified by our engineer. Once these are done, we can hand them over to Tupz Builders to start the process of getting on site and getting cracking.
Colours
We are looking at our colour schemes and pallets for the building, which will be based on traditional colours that have always been represented up at the pa.
We also have some exciting opportunities for whanau to put their skills and talents to work, and will get details out about what these will be in the coming weeks.
New Facey Page - Te Pa Eke Tu
We have set up a Facebook page to post all our progress photos and generally just keep everyone up to date with all things happening in the project. I'll be posting it to our hapu pages, but make sure to share it with all your whanau so that everyone has the opportunity to participate.
Contact the Project
We have a new email address which I keep a dutiful eye on, so feel free to drop us a line at [email protected]. I'm happy to address any queries that whanau have with the rebuild.
Anyway, I think that's enough for now, but I look forward to catching up with everyone up at the pa. I'm going to endeavour to have project information available at every working bee so that our peeps can get a good look at plans, swatches, ideas etc.
